Shortly before his untimely death in 2005, George surprised me with a folder of drawings he made in the early 1980ies. They were in a scetchbook I remember having bought for him in Germany. This unique collection of strange, funny people that would become Lilanga's trademark shall be made available to dedicated Lilanga-collectors worldwide as works documenting the early steps of the artist's career - yet already showing the unique style of Lilanga. |
